This allows <br />the fire trucks to straddle the centerline and drive in the grooves, avoiding the lump. <br />The <br />speed <br />lumps <br />shown <br />here are <br />3- inches <br />high and <br />12 -feet <br />wide. <br />Although the wheelbase of a fire truck will allow it to avoid most of the effect of the <br />speed lump, passenger cars and SUVs have to go over the speed lump and will slow <br />down. Due to the 12 -foot width of the lump, travel speeds of 20 -25 mph over the lumps <br />are comfortable. <br />The Fire Department and Police Department were consulted on the use of these <br />devices on Sycamore Road and Alisal Street and both the Fire and Police Departments, <br />being already familiar with the speed lumps installed on Crellin Road, support the Traffic <br />Calming Plan developed for the Happy Valley neighborhood. <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
