1 MINUTES CITY OF PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING June 5, 2007 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Hosterman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Councilmember Sullivan led the Pledge of Allegiance. Introductory Comments Councilmember Sullivan gave the following comments: The week of June 3-9 was Community of Character Week; First Wednesday Street Parties begin June 6`~'; Downtown Association's Concert in the Park series began last week and each Friday night through September 7`h, Pleasanton Police Department was hosting a driving meeting for the parents of teens on June 7"'. Councilmember Sullivan asked to observe a minute of silence in honor of service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan who have died in the conflict as well as civilians. Roll Call Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman Absent: None AGENDA AMENDMENTS City Manager Fialho requested removing Item 12 from the agenda and hold it over for approximately 2-3 months, there have been several comments raised and requests that additional information be reviewed and considered prior to final reading of the ordinance. Mayor Hosterman agreed and felt it would provide for an opportunity to address questions and concerns of the community. Councilmember Cook-Kallio said she was also concerned about the number of emails received and the fact there was misleading information. She was concerned about staff and Council integrity and character was called into question and was interested in finding a way to rectify misinformation or misunderstandings. Councilmember Thorne said it would also provide for an opportunity to look at traffic studies on weekends. Councilmember Sullivan questioned if it would also provide for a an opportunity to look at more detailed fiscal and economic picture of the project, including the impacts on small, local businesses. City Manager Fialho felt the goal was to have everyone comfortable with the facts before the second reading comes forward to the Council which could include getting together with stakeholders, walking the existing assumptions and testing additional questions. Councilmember McGovern requested the City Manager contact Whole Foods and talk about why they did not feel the site was compatible for them as well as the grocery store, and hoped all of the questions brought up would be addressed to determine whether the site was sufficient or not. Councilmember Sullivan requested removal Item 7.
