PLANNING CO?AQSSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASA.NTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
MINUTES
The meeting of the City Planning Commission was called to order at the City Hall
on June 20, 1957, at 8:20 P.M., Vice-Chairman Abrott presiding.
Roll Call; Present: - Commissioners Abrott, Hanifen, Hartle and tiJharton
Absent: - Commissioners Hewitson, Trowbridge and ~aetherby
The minutes of May 16, 195? were approved as read on motion of Commissioner Hani-
fen, seconded by Commissioner Wharton.
Correspondence: A letter from Pleasanton Construction Co. requesting a variance
to allow a 15 foot setback on Lot No. 1, Block 7 of Tract 1752 rather than the
required 20~ was read and discussed. On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded
by Commissioner [+htarton a resolution recommending approval of the request will be
forwarded to the Council for their action.
A work session will be held on Monday, July 1st, to discuss the city fire zones
and their adequacy for present and future needs.
The City Administrator reported on the June 19th meeting of the Alameda County
Planning Commission relative to the County Tentative Master Plan. A request will
be forwarded to the City Council suggesting a joint meeting with the Planning Com-
mission to discuss the City~s recommendations on this plate.
Mr. Leslie Robertson was present for the continuance of the proposed Trailer Court
hearing. Chairman Abrott asked if any plans for requesting annexation of the land
had been made. Mr. Robertson stated that they would prefer to utilize the initial
five acres within the city limits first and after determining the success of the
project than request annexation of the balance of the 10 acres. As the proposed
rezoning of this land would make it available far commercial use the City Adminis-
trator pointed out the nusierous functions the land could be utilized for. Under
the present zoning ordinance the Planning Commission could not restrict the use of
commercial property to a Trailer Court. After further discussion Mr. Robertson re-
quested that his petition be withdrawn, to be resubmitted to the Commission after
the passage of the Interim Zoning Ordinance by the City Council. At that time it
would be possible far the Planning Commission to grant a conditional zoning permit.
Mr. Robertson will confirm his request for withdrawal of the petition by letter.
The discussion of the proposed subdivision ordinance was postponed until the City
Administrator had had an opportunity to review it.
Mr. Masonheimer than reported to the Commission the changes that the Council had
made in the Interim Zoning Ordinance, namely that Section 2.13 of Article 2 would
require a 510.00 fee only rather than the original 555.00; that section 1.041 of
Article 1 be changed to read "......family house to be built on lot of record is
Residential District."; section 2.17 of Article 2 rill nox read ".The Commission
shall issue a Conditional Zoning Permit therefore upon expiration of the appeal per-
iod provided for by the ordinance.."; and section 3.13 of Article 3 shall read "A
public hearing shall be held by the City Council within thirty days of filing of
notice of appeal."
There being no further business to come before the Commission the meeting was ad-
journed at 9:40 P.M. to meet again on Julp 18, 1957, at 8:00 P.M. at the City Hall.
Secretary
