PLANNING OOMMLSSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />OOIJNTY OF ALAMEBA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />MINOTES <br />tB;ETING OF NOVEl~ER 22, 1957 <br />The meeting of the Planing Co~nission was called to order at the City Hall, <br />Acting Chairman Vernon Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present: Commissioners DeYor, Hanifen, Mitchell, Trowbridge, <br />Wharton and Chairman Wetherby <br />Absent: None (one ncancy) <br />A rov~al of Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of October 17, 1957 <br />and~the adjourned abeting of October 24, 1957, having been previously <br />mailed to caamisaionera and made public were upon the motion of Ca~ieaioner <br />Wharton, seconded by Commissioner Hanifen and the nnanim6ue= vote of Commis- <br />aionera present, approved as presented. <br />Correspondence: Certified copies of resolutions Numbers 1291 and 1292 of the <br />City Council appointing Ralph Mitchell and Henry C. Cook to the Planning Com- <br />mission were read. Chairman Wetherby and members of the Commission welcomed <br />Commissioner Mitchell to the board aad it wan announced that Mr. Cook would be <br />unable to accept his appointment due to his serving on the Horsing Authority <br />Board, the City Attorney having ruled such dud service was noL compatible with <br />certain provisions of the State law. <br />A letter from the Local P1t~,aning Office of the Department of Finance was <br />read, which listed planning retsrtnce arterial available through the Local Plan- <br />ning Office and/or the State Library. <br />A letter from the City Clerk was read stating the City Administrator, <br />C. W. Masonheimer, had been appointed by the City Council as Secretary to the <br />Planning Commission. <br />The correspondence was ordered filed. <br />New Business; Application of Thomas Zaro, 210 Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton for a <br />variance to the side wetback requirement, dated November 11, 1957, was presented <br />to the Commission. <br />Mr. Zaro stated he wmsA~si to build his garage within two (2) feet of the <br />property line, in order to w the garage to store two (2) automobiles. He said <br />that the garage would be thirty-two (32) feet wide, to allow rooa for two cars and <br />a small workshop. To locate it five (5) Feet from the aide property line as <br />required would not allow sufficient swinging room between the garage and the house <br />to permit two cars to enter the garage. <br />Chafrsrn Wetherby and Commissioner Hanifen asked if the garage could not be <br />moved farthet~ toward the rear of the lot, noting that the application indicated the <br />lot to be 166 feet deep on the side proposed for the garage development. Mr. Zaro <br />stated that rear portions of the lot were being used for the storage of material. <br />
