PLANNING COt,L~ffSSION OF T!iE CITY OF FLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />MINUTES <br />MEETING OF JANUARY 16, 1958 <br />The meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at the City Hall on <br />January 16, 1958 at 8:00 P.h[., Commissioner Hanifen presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners Haziifen, ~Sitchell, Trowbridge, Wharton <br />Absent -Commissioners DeVor and Wetherby <br />The minutes of December 12, 1958 were approved as forwarded on motion by Commissioner <br />tJharton, seconded by Commissioner Mitchell. <br />New Business: <br />The application of hferton A. hurray, fora Conditional Zoning Fermit to erect a two- <br />bed'room duplex at corner of First and Abbie was presented to the Commission. <br />Mr. Murray was present and explained his ;naps and proposed improvement to the Commission, <br />stated the proposed house is 1860' sq.ft. on a 5000 sq. ft. lot. Planning Consultant <br />Bill Rugg, when asked, stated that the lot was too small for a multiple family dwelling. <br />After some discussion, the Commission concluded the improvement did not meet the density <br />and setback requirements for a multiple family dwelling. Commissioner [Jharton stated <br />that if Mr. Murray wanted, the Commission would consider a single family dwelling on <br />the same application. On motion of Commissioner Wharton, seconded by Commissioner Trow- <br />bridge, Resolution #22 was passed recommending to the City Council that the Conditional <br />Zoning Permit be denied under the followigg conditions: <br />1. No hardship can be shown. 2. The area (5000 square feet) is not sufficient <br />to support a multiple family dwelling. 3. Insufficient parking spaces provided. <br />Old Business: <br />Miss Ruth Wilding, representative of the Census Tract Committee for Alameda County, was <br />present and spoke to the Commission on the purpose of Census Tracts and explained the <br />problem;facing the Committee in the Pleasanton-Livermore area. Miss Wilding explained <br />the enumeration districts acd their assets in Pleasanton. She stated that the Committee <br />would keep the Co:mnission posted on their activities. <br />A discussion was held with Bill Rugg on zoning ordinances. Main problems discussed were <br />the 7000' lot versus the 6000' lot and the effect the future use of Parks Air Force Base <br />would have on Pleasanton. <br />Problems of annexation were discussed with Consultant Rugg and Attorney Struthers <br />agreeing that the Commission should look into the possibilities of annexing to Highway <br />50, with the purpose of controlling what goes in around Parks Air Force Base in the future. <br />Consultant Rugg announced his new assignment as Planning Director for the City of Salinas <br />and introduced ~~ Boucher, who will replace him as Planning Consultant on February 1, <br />1958. <br />There being no further business to come before the Commission the meeting was adjourned <br />at 10:00 to meet again on Thursday, February 6, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. at City Hall. <br />Seer{etary ~ C!-e~"n-.,~- <br />
