PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />MINUTES <br />MEETING OF FEBRUARY 6, 1958 <br />The meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at the City Hall on <br />February 6, 1958 at 8;10 PM, Acting Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners DeVor, Mitchell, Trowbridge and Wetherby. <br />Absent -Commissioners Hanifen and Whartoh. <br />The minutes of the melting of January 16, 1958 were approved as forwarded on <br />motion of Commissioner Trowbridge, seconded by Commissioner Mitchell. <br />Correspondenceā€¢ <br />A letter from the County Planning Commission regarding Census Tract Committee <br />meetings was read. The Committee has set April 3, 1958 as the date for the <br />final review and adoption of a county-wide enumeration district and census <br />tract map. The Technical Committee will meet March 6, 1958. Due to the resign- <br />ation of the City Administrator, Pleasanton has no representative to this com- <br />mittee. Commissioner Wetherby requested the Secretary to notify the Council <br />that this representation be a duty of the new Achninistrator. <br />A letter from the County Planning Commission re application of H. '~~. Shackleton <br />to rezone from General Agricultural llistrict to General Commercial llistrict on the <br />northwest corner of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue, Pleasanton Township was read. <br />Mr. Shackleton intends to establish a retail lumber business and an automobil! <br />service station on the property. The matter is scheduled for a public hearing by <br />the County Plaruiing Commission on March 10, 1958. As the Commission will meet <br />before the scheduled hearing, action was deferred until meeting of February 20,' <br />1958. <br />A letter was read from the City Clerk setting February 20, 1958, 8:00 PM, as <br />the date for a public hearing on a tentative subdivision map, Tract 1917, filed <br />by Bevilacqua Brothers. <br />New Business: <br />The application of Mrs. Anaa Brown for a Conditional Zoning Permit to move an <br />existing house onto the property at 185 W. Division was presented to the Commission. <br />Mr. and Mra. Brown were present and explained the plot plan, showing the location of <br />the proposed and existi~ buildings. The location of the garages was pointed out <br />upon Commissioner DeVor's request. Attorney Struthers stated that Mrs. Brown now <br />has an application before the City Council for a use permit which would allow her <br />to move the building onto the property upon the granting of a Conditional Zoning <br />Permit by the Commission. Commissioner Wetherby asked about the present access. <br />Mrs. Brown explained that the property was all in her ownership and pointed out <br />the driveways, stating there was enough room to drive around the buildings. She <br />also stated that sometime in the future she intended to tear down one of the <br />buildings. Comnissioner DeVor asked who would maintain the driveway. Attornery <br />Struthers stated that the owners would be required to maintain the driveway. <br />Commissioner DeVor stated that a right-of-way should be left open at all Imes so, <br />in case of fire, equipment could get in. Commissioner Ietherby stated ~ should <br />be a condition that a hard surface type access be provided and maintained to all <br />facilities on the property. Commissioner DeVor asked Hrs. Brown if she would be <br />able to comply with a 16' improved driveway requirement and Mrs. Brown stated that <br />she could. Sewage was discussed and found sufficient. Commission Wetherby stated <br />that parking spaces be provided for all facilities in the form of carports, parking <br />lot, etc. On motion of Commissioner Wetherby, seconded by Commissioner lleVor, <br />Resolution #23 was passed, granting a Conditional Zoning Permit under the following <br />conditions: 1) A 16' improved driveway be maintained to all residences on the pro- <br />perty; 2) The ratio of parking spaces to the number of dwellings be 11;1; 3) There <br />be a minimum 20' between residential structures; 4) The plot plan as submitted with <br />
