PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />MINUTES <br />?keting of March 6, 1968 <br />The meting of the Planning Commission was called to order at the City Hall on March 6, <br />1958 at 8:00 P.M., Acting Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners Hanifen, Mitchell, Trowbridge, Wharton and Wetherby. <br />Absent -Commissioner DeVor. <br />Correa ndence• <br />Letter from County Planning Commission regarding two petitions to rezone iron general <br />agricultural to retail business in Pleasanton Township. <br />1) A 63-acre site on south side of Highway 50, one mile east of Santa Rita Road for <br />a 142-unit motel with sriiaing pool, restaurant, cocktail lounge, service station, <br />163-lot subdivision sad neighborhood business center. <br />Mr. Phil Landon, interested citizen, spoke concerning the school problem for such <br />a sub-division. Commissioner Trowbridge stated that a 163-lot subdivision would not <br />support a business center and also that more development wan probably piaoned for this <br />area. He stated that thesehomea might posaibl,P be below Pleasanton~a residential <br />standards and myq'force Pleasanton to lower their atardarda if more development took place. <br />Sanitary facilities aid water core discussed. Ed Orloff, City Councilman, was present, <br />and stated that the Council was interested in this petition and would like to discuss <br />it with the Commission at a work session. Further action was deferred to meeting of <br />March 20, 1958. <br />2) A 14-acre site at southeast corner of Dublin Boulevard and Highway 21 for a 160-unit <br />motel with service station, restaurant and cocktail lounge. Subject site encloses Dublin <br />school site on three aides. <br />Commissioner Mitchell stated they should recommend that the location of a school so close <br />to a motel and cocktail lounge development is not desirable. Commission Wharton stated <br />that a Citizens Coamittee in Aaador Valley has proposed an alternate route for Highway 21 <br />through the proposed site. On notion of Commissioner Mitchell, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wharton, a letter will be sent to the County Planning Commission stating the above comments. <br />Letter from County Census Tract Committee asking if proposals and map for census tracts <br />and enumeration districts in Pleasanton are satisfactory. On motion of Commissioner <br />Wetherby, seconded by Comaissioner Wharton, a letter will be sent to this Coamittee, <br />stating that above map was reviewed and that the Commission has no objection to same as <br />submitted. <br />Resolution from Pleasanton Chamber of Comaerce concerning future use of Parks Air Force <br />Base was submitted. <br />pcting.:~; Chairman Wetherby called for the continuation of the Public Hearing on Tract 1917• <br />Mr. &. Bevilacqua presented a letter to the Commission requesting postponement until <br />sooting of March 20, 1958; justification being that insufficient information had tat been <br />received by the applicant from the City Engineer. Attorney Struthers :explained that the <br />City Eagineer~s plane were not ready sal suggested a staff conference might help both <br />parties reach agreement before a final decision is made. Commissioner Wetherby stated that <br />the public hearing should be closed now with further action deferred until next regular <br />meeting. Mr. Boucher, Planning Consultant, spoke concerning how the proposed tract would <br />fit into the Master Plan, pointing out that~in the future, Third Street would be a through <br />
