IN THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTUN <br />CCUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFURNIA <br />MINUTES <br />Meeting of May 15, 1958 <br />The meeting of the City Planning Conmtission was called to order at the City Hall <br />on May 15, 1958, Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners Inzano, Mitchell, Trowbridge and Wharton <br />Absent -Commissioners DeVor and Hanifen. <br />On motion of Commissioner Wharton, seconded by Commissioner Mitchell and approved <br />by all Commissioners present, the minutes of the meeting of May 1, 1958 were <br />approved as corrected. <br />Chairman Wetherby opened the public hearialg on the application of James F. Coates <br />and Daisy M. Coates for a Conditional Zoning Permit to change an existing apart- <br />ment court use to a motel court use on 611 Railroad Avenue. Mr. Coates stated <br />that he proposed this change to improve business. He indicated that the neighbors <br />he had contacted had no objections to his proposal. On the parking problem, <br />Mr. Coates stated that thew was enough parking for ten cars. <br />On motion of Commissioner Wharton, seconded by Commissioner Trowbridge and approved <br />by all Commissioners present, the Conditional Zoning Permit of James F. Coates to <br />change an existing apartment use to a motel use was denied for the reason that it <br />is not in conformance with the proposed zoning for that area; it is not in keeping <br />with the adjacent area and undue congestion of the streets and parking facilities <br />would be caused by the proposed change. ' <br />Mr. Coates was advised of his right of appeal to the City Council. <br />An application of Joe Sally, et al, for a Use Permit to the Alameda County Planning <br />Commisdion to construct and operate a race track to consist of racing of sports, <br />stock and midget cars and a drag strip, on 254 acres on the east side of Tassajara <br />Road, approximately 4500 Peet north of Highway 50 in Pleasanton Township was presented <br />for the Commission's consideration. On motion of Commissioner Trowbridge, seconded <br />by Commissioner Wharton and approved by all members present, a letter will be sent <br />to the County Planning Commnission stating that the City Planning Commission recog- <br />nizes the need for such a facility in this area; this location will lend itself <br />to said use, and the Commission finds no objection to the use. <br />The application of A. R. Bliesner, Pleasanton Hotel, for a Conditional Zoning Permit <br />to add a private swimming pool to an existing hotel operation was considered. On <br />motion of Commissioner Trowbridge, seconded by Commissioner Wharton and approved by <br />aj_1 Commissioners present, the permit was granted under the following conditions: <br />(1) The swimming pool area is to be adequately fenced to protect the public; and <br />(2) the swimming pool is to be used by the guests of the hotel and not used as a <br />public pool with paid admission for such use. <br />The Commission set the date of June 5, 1958 for a public hearing on the variance <br />request of Charles Fiorio, 54 Rose Avenue, to erect a carport one foot from the <br />property line on the northeast corner of the lot. <br />As there was no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was <br />adjourned at 9:15 P.M. to meet again in regular adjourned session on Thursday, <br />June 5, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. <br />Secretary <br />
