IN THE PLANNING C02+R+IISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMIDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />MINUTES <br />Meeting of August 14, 1958 <br />The meeting of the Planning Commission was called to drder at City Hall on August 14, 1958 <br />Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Comrniasioners Hanifen, Lozano, Mitchell and Trowbridge <br />Absent -Commissioners DeVor and Wharton. <br />The minutes of the meeting of August 7, 1958 were approved asr forwarded on motion of <br />Commissioner Trowbridge, seconded by Commissioner Lozano and approved by all Commissioners <br />present. <br />A letter from the Alameda County Planning Commission concerning an application of Arthur L. <br />Kahn for an Adjustment to permit an addition (building housing indoor recreation rooms, <br />cafeteria, overnight sleeping accomodations) to existing non-conforming recreational <br />facilities on property without frontage on a public or approved private street, located <br />at 768 Vineyard Avenue, Pleasanton Township, approximately 3 miles southeasterly of Pleasanton <br />in an "A-2" District was considered. On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded by Com- <br />missioner IAZailO and approved by all Commissioners present, a letter will be sent to the <br />County Planning Commission stating that the Pleasanton Planning Commission has no objection <br />to the proposed adjustment. <br />Chairman Wetherby opened the public hearing on the application of Betty Evans for a Conditional <br />Zoning Permit tocperate a palm-reading business at 612 Main Street. Mr. Frank Manning <br />represented the applicant. A letter was forwarded from the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce <br />stating that the Chamber objects to the granting of the palm reading license on the grounds <br />that it is not in keeping with good planning for Pleasanton`s Business and Zoning Plan. On <br />motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded by Commissioner Lozano and approved by all Com- <br />missioners present, the public hearing was closed. The commissioners reviewed Section 2.22 <br />of Ordinance No. 276. On motion of Connnissioner Wetherby, seconded by Commissioner Trowbridge <br />and approved by all Commissioners present, Resolution No. 37 was adopted denying the <br />Conditional Zoning Permit in view of the recommendation of the Chamber of Commerce and <br />finding that the proposed use._is not appropriate to and not detrimental in relation to <br />existing surrounding uses. Mr. Manning was advised of his right of appeal. <br />The application of Earl K. Hughes for a Conditional Zoning Permit to allow a cabinet shop <br />at the corner of West Division Street and Railroad Avenue was withdrawn. <br />The application of John Vierra, 507 Railroad Avenue for a Conditional Zoning Permit to <br />allow a plumbing repair business at the above address was considered. Mr. Vierra was <br />present and stated that he intended to use this address as a business address only and <br />all work would be done from his truck. On motion of Commissioners Hanifen, seconded by <br />Commissioner Trowbridge, and adopted by all Commissioners present, Resolution No. 38 was <br />adopted, granting the Condit ional Zoning Permit on the condition that this home occupation <br />shall not include a retail outlet at his home. <br />As there was no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 8:50 p.m. to August 21, 1958 at 8:00 p.m. <br />l~ <br />Secretary <br />
