IN THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THPs CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUNTY OF A'r.sntRnn, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />November 6, 1958 <br />The meeting of the Pleasanton Planning Commission was called to order at City Hall on <br />November 6, 1958, Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners DeVor, Hanifen, Lozano and Mitchell <br />Absent -Commissioner Wharton <br />On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded by Commissioner Lozano and approved by all <br />Commissioners present, the minutes of the meeting of October 9, 1958, October 16, 1958 <br />and October 23, 1958 were approved as forwarded. <br />The application of Manual Madeiros for a Conditional Zoning Permit to erect a house in <br />back of an existing house at 521 W. Division Street was considered. Mr. Victor Sousa, <br />representing Mr. Madeiros, explained the plot plan as presented. Mr. Sousa stated that <br />the lot is 278' long with a 10' utility easement in back oY the proposed house. A <br />letter to Mr. Madeiros from the City Attorney stating that if all the property is in one <br />ownership, a permit could be issued, was presented. On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, <br />sewnded by Commissioner DeVor and approved by all Commissioners present, Resolution <br />No. 3g was adopted, granting the Conditional Zoning Permit under the following conditions: <br />1) The house numbering shall be visible from Division Street. 2) An all-weather type <br />driveway shall be maintained to the proposed house. 3) The rear setback shall be <br />changed from 12' to 20'. 1+) The building shall conform to the bffiilding code of the <br />City of Pleasanton. <br />The application of the Church of Christ for the extension of their Conditional Zoning <br />Permit to use the property at 706 Main Street as a church was considered. Mr. W1]liam <br />Davis was present and stated that the ground has been cleared at the location of their <br />new church and the plans are in the process of being drawn up. He further stated they <br />would appreciate a six-months extension oP their Permit. On motion of Commissioner <br />DeVor, seconded by Commissioner Hanifen and approved by all Commissioners present, <br />Resolution No. 40 was adopted, extending the Conditional Zoning Permit for the Church <br />of Christ for a nix-months period under the same conditions as Resolution No. 16 with <br />the exception of the automatic six-months renewal clause. <br />Chairman Wetherby opened the public hearing on the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance. <br />A letter from Foster & Kleiser's representative, Ray Adams, was read requesting a study <br />session to be held on the sign aspects of the zoning ordinance. <br />A letter Pram John Sweeney requesting the rezoning of his Santa Rita Road property was <br />read. Chairman Wetherby stated that this rezoning request could only be considered when <br />this property is within the City limits. <br />The Commission then made the following proposed changes in the Zoning Ordinance: <br />1. The H. J. Deetz property on Pleasanton Avenue changed Prom Agricultural to General <br />Commercial. The batch plant will then be non-conforming. Mr. Deetz was advised that <br />the Commission has not yet decided on the length of time for non-conforming uses. <br />2. The Garatti Winery changed from RG-15 to Industrial because of the amount of immovable <br />equipment and large cement storage buildings. Only tnery,~will be zoned Industrial. <br />~a,,.a..,~o, <br />Mr. Dick Schwarting protested the proposed zoning of the motel property on Santa Rita Road <br />as well. as the rest of the property on Santa Rita Road as residential. Mr. John .Boucher, <br />Planning Consultant, explained that no zoning was being dune out of the City limits and <br />w c~ ,~/~6fsd <br />
