IN T'dE PLANNISSG COi~iISSION OF TIC CITY OF PLEASATdTON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />Alinutes <br />b4eeting of December 4, 1958 <br />The meeting of the Pleasanton Planning Commission was called to order at City Hall on <br />December 4, 1958, Chairman Wetherby presiding. <br />Roll Call: Present - Commissioners Allison, Hanifen, Mitchell, Lozano and Wharton <br />Absent -Commissioner DeVor <br />On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded by Commissioner Ir~zano and approved by all <br />Commissioners present, the minutes of the meeting of Nosember 26, 1958 were approved as <br />forwarded. <br />The application of Juanita O'dea for a Conditional Zoning Permit to operate a hobby ceramics <br />business at 1000 Main Street was considered. Mrs. O'dea was present and explained that she <br />proposed to teach ceramics with no charge for lessons. She stated that she will sell <br />materials and charge for firing. She has a portable kiln that conforms to fire code <br />requirements. On motion o£ Commissioner Wharton, seconded by Commissioner Hanifen and <br />approved by all Commissioners present, a public hearing on this matter was waived. On <br />motion of Commissioner Hanifen, seconded by Commissioner Lozano and approved by all Com- <br />missioners present, RESOLUTION N0. 42 was adopted granting a Conditional Zoning Permit <br />statingthat all pertinent sections of Ordinance No. 276 have been met. <br />Mr. Roy Jensen was present and presented maps to the Commission regarding his proposal of <br />extending Pioneer Village subdivision. He stated that he would like to submit a new sub- <br />division map allowing development of his additional 20 acres from the back of his property <br />to Santa Rita Road, with development in small tracts. The Commission stated that they would <br />consider this proposal if access and utility requirements were met. Mr. Jensen will submit <br />a new tentative map. <br />The application of Nuclear Engineering Company, Inc. for a Conditional Zoning Permit to <br />erect a laundry, office, warehouse facility on the northwest corner of First and Spring <br />Streets to process~otective work clothing used by various atomic energy installations <br />was considered. Mr. Corbett, representing Nuclear Engineering Company, Inc., presented <br />the proposal. He stated that this operation would not present a hazard to the City of <br />Pleasanton. It is licensed by the Atomic Energy Commission and the State. Routine checks <br />are made and the reports will be sent ~ the City. The company will employ eight to ten <br />employees at the beginning with a portion ofthe personnel having "Q" clearances. He <br />stated that the company has no immediate plans to secure adjoining property for expansion <br />and it will not be necessary to use the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks at the present <br />time. On motion of Commissioner Hanifen, sem nded by Commissioner Wharton and approved <br />by all Commissioners present, a public hearing on this matter was waived. On motion of <br />Commissioner Wharton, seconded by Commissioner IAZano and approved by all Commissioners <br />present, RESOLUTION IQO. 43 was acb pted, granting a Conditional Zoning Permit under the <br />following conditions: 1) Building shall comply with City of Pleasanton building code. <br />2) Operation shall comply with Federal and State regulations governing liquid and gas <br />effluent. 3) Copies of State, Federal and A.E.C. inspection reports shall be submitted <br />to the City. 4) Map- shall be resubmitted to scale and in duplicate; direction, street <br />address, building height, setbacks, off-street loading spaces, width and pavement specifi- <br />cations of driveway to be included and type of building to be indicated. <br />As there was no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned <br />at 9:15 P.M. to December 18, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. <br />,~...~~~ <br />Secretary <br />
