IN THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />COUidTY OF ALAMEDA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />Minutes <br />August 3, 1961 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting oP the Plannng Commission was called to <br />order by the Chairman Ralph Mitchell, at 8:05 P.M., on the above date. <br />ROLL CALL showed present: Commissioner Landon, Lozano and Rega. Ex- <br />Officio Commissioners Kamp and King. Absent: Commissioner Antonini and Ex- <br />officio Commissioners Ilona and Hohn. <br />On motion of Commissioner Landon, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and ap- <br />proved by all Commissioners present the minutes of July 20, 1961 wee approved <br />as forwarded. <br />Plans for the new Post Office were presented to the Commission by Postmaster, <br />Albert Oxsen, and he exllained how the post office would be built. After discussion, <br />* and approvalof`the Commission, the plans were referred to the Staff for further study. <br />Discussion on the Aiiport Report was held, and several people in the pduience <br />commented on same. Dr. Beatty, Mrs. Ernestine Mayo, .and George Jamieson spoke against <br />the Airport. Orin Crowe suggested the land, proposed for the Airport, be used as a <br />recreation area for the township. On motion of Commissioner Mitchell, seconded by <br />Commissioner Lyndon, and approved by sll Commissioners present, the Planning Commission <br />reaffixwed their position of February 1961, viewing unfavorabley the proposal of the <br />City of Livermore to locate the airport in Pleasanton Township. <br />Discussion was held on the relocation of Frank Aufdermaur's cabinet works on <br />Pleasanton - Sunol Road near Sycsm®~+e Road. No action taken. <br />On motion of Commissioner Lyndon, seconded by Comm~ioner Lozano and approved <br />by all Commissioners present, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 P.M. to meet again <br />August 17, 1961 at 8:00 P.M. <br />~ The Commission did not approve the plans but approved their being sent to the Staff <br />for farther study. <br />The City Attorney gave the opinion that the Federal government could construct the <br />new Post Office without Commission approval. <br />Secretary <br />
