M I N U T E S <br />of <br />THB MBETING <br />of <br />THS PLANNING COMi~SSION <br />Pleasanton, California <br />June 26, 1963 <br />Due to the lack of a quorum oa the above data, the meeting of the Planning Co®ie- <br />eion was not held, <br />July 10, 1963 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at <br />8:00 P,M., on Wednesday, July 10, 1963, by Chairman Philip Landon. <br />ROLL CALL showed the following: <br />Present: ComQd.eaioners Antonini <br />Rega <br />Wipfli <br />Chairman Landon <br />Secretary Falea <br />Absent: Commd.aeioaer Lozano <br />On motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Wipfli, the minutes of <br />the meeting of June 12 were unanimously approved as presented by those Comaiaaionere <br />present. <br />Secretary Fales referred to the meeting of May 16, 1963, and stated that the City <br />Attorney recommends that the change of meeting night for the Commission, which was <br />done by motion on that date, be done by resolution, and that Resolution No, 220 has <br />been reserved for this purpose. Upon motion of Commissioner Rega, seconded by Cam- <br />misafoner Wipfli, the following resolution was unanimously adopted by those Commie- <br />aionera present: <br />RESCQ.UTION NO. 220 <br />RESOLVED, that the Pleasanton Planning Commission shall change their <br />regular meetings to the second and fourth Wednesdays o£ each <br />month, at 8:00 P.M., commencing June 12, 1963. <br />Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the application of Mra. Caroline <br />Henningeen, 1056 Division Street, for a Variance from Section 6.5 and Section <br />16.602, Ord. No. 309, in order to create a lot with a reduced area sad rearyard <br />setback, and a reduced sideyaxd for an accessory building at the above location, in <br />an R-1 District. Mra, Henningsen was present in the audience and further clarified <br />her request. There being no other comments from the audience, Chairman Landon de- <br />clared the public hearing closed. Mr. False gave the staff report and explained <br />that the lot in question is located at the south corner of Fair and Division <br />Streets. The proposal is to divide the lot into two portions, each one including <br />an existing dwelling unit. The applicant ie requesting a Variance from Section 6.5 <br />and Section 16.602, Ord. No. 309, in order to subdivide the one lot into two lots. <br />Oae lot would have an area of 5,734 eq.ft., whereas the minimum lot area in an R-1 <br />liatrict is 6,500 eq.ft., necessitating a Variance of 766 eq,ft. Also a Variance <br />fpm Section 16.602 is required to allow an accessory building with a sideyaxd set- <br />back of 1.26 ft. from a required sideyaxd of 5 ft., or a Variance of 3.74 ft. A <br />15~ft, rear yard Variance 19 also requested (from the required 20 ft. to 5 ft.) Mr. <br />Falta stated also that Mra. Henningaea has made application, under Ord. No. 358, <br />fora minor subdivision. Mxe. Henningsen was advised to apply for Variances prior <br />to C.1e calling of a meeting of the Subdivision Cpmmittee to consider the minor aub- <br />divieion, Sidewalk, curb and gutter should be reviewed by the Subdivision CommitteE <br />Mr, F;les added, The staff recommended the Variances be granted, and all remaining <br />pertinent physical factors of the property be taken care of by the Subdivision Com- <br />mittee. After considerable discussion by the Commission, City Attorney Struthers <br />was asked for his comments, and he stated the City helped to create this situation <br />when Fair Street was constructed by the County. This matter ie now subject to the <br />discretion of the Commission. The City deeded the frontage to Mrs. Henningsen at <br />the time Fair Street was cut through, Upon motion of Commissioner Antonini, aecond- <br />
