THE PLA27~TING CO.AfISSION
Pleasanton, California
ids rch 11, 1964
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at
8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 1964, by Chairmen Philip Landon.
ROLL CALL showed the following:
Present: Commissioners Antonini
Lozano
Rega
Chairman Landon
Secretary Falea
Absent: Commissioner Wipfli
On motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, the minutes of
the meeting of February 26, 1964, were approved ae presented by unanimous vote of
those Cormniesioners present.
Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the amended application of the Commun-
ity Presbyterian Church of Pleasanton, 100 Neal Street, for an amendment to Ord.
No. 309 rezoning Lots 4 and 5, Tract No. 2603, from R-1 to RG-15, and Lot 6, Tract
No. 2603, from R-1 to R-2. Rev. Vogt was present in the audience. There being no
comment from the audience, it was moved by Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Com-
miaeioner Rega, and carried, that the public hearing be cloned. Mr. Falea read a
letter from Mr. Bernard T. Gorton, dated February 20, 1964, amending Application
for Rezoning No. RZ-64-1, dated January 9, 1964. Mr. Fates stated the application
had been referred to the City's Planning Consultants for report and recommendation.
The recommendation, contained in a report from Livingston and Blayney, dated March 4
1964, states that it is recommended that the rezoning of Lota 4 and 5 to the RG-15
District be denied because the resulting density would be too high for this Loca-
tion and would be inconsistent with the character and present pattern of develop-
ment in the area. However, should the applicant be interested in having all three
lots rezoned to the R-2 District, the Planning Consultants would so recommend.
Livingston and Blayney further recommended that when the tentative map for Tract No.
2603 is submitted for approval, it allow for the eventual extension of the cut de
sac to the east and provide access to the adjoining property when it ie developed.
Mr. Heitman was present in the audience, representing the Community Presbyterian
Church, and said they would prefer some zoning between R-2 and RG-15. However, Mr.
False said in lieu of another zoning district, the City ie at a lose to make a
suggestion. Chairman Landon suggested a variable zone. Mr. Falea stated the Plan-
ning Conaultante might be requested to prepare an ordinance amendment creating a
variable zone, but the General Plan preparation has not proceeded far enough so
that the Conaultante might create one. Upon motion of Commissioner Antonini,
seconded by Commissioner Lozano, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous
vote of those Commissioners present:
RESOLUTION NO. 278
WHEREAS, the application of the Community Presbyterian Church of
Pleasanton, 100 Neal Street, for an amendment to Ord. No.
309 rezoning Lote 4 and 5, Tract No. 2603, from R-1 to RG-15, and
Lot 6, Tract No. 2603, from R-1 to R-2 has come before this Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BR IT
RESOLVED, that the City Planning Comml.saion hereby denies the above-
named application for xezening, without prejudice, for the
reason that the resulting density would be too high for this location
and would be inconsistent with the character and present pattern of
development in the area.
