requested an opportunity to discuss the proposed land use with the Commission.
Mr. Eechelbach was present in the audiente and stated he has a mobile home park
in mind, bounded by excavated gravel pits and the Arroyo del Valle. He desires
annexation to get sewage facilities. There are 9'~ acres in the parcel, and Mr.
Eschelbach said he has applied to Alameda County for mobile home park use, but
they have not accepted his application for this type of use. Chairman Landon
requested the eteff to submit the matter to the City's Planning Consultants,
Livingston and Blayney, for report and recommendation.
The next item on the agenda was a request for diacuseion of possible commercial-
adminietrative land (gee; one-acre parcel at the northeast corner of Nevis Street
and Santa Rita Road: Mr. Fales stated that Mr. Frank Auf der Maur has asked to
have this matter put on the agenda for diacuseion. Subsequent to this request
an application was received for rezoning from R-1 to C-0. This application has
been forwarded to Livingston and Blayney for analysis, and a public hearing on
the matter has been scheduled for April 22, 1964. Mr. Fairfield explained that a
Tentative Map for six R-1 homes has been approved for Mr. Earl Dawes. However,
Mr. Dawes has been unable to secure financial backing for his proposal. The
property has not changed hands; it ie still owned by Eaton and Johnson. Mr. Frank
Auf dex Maur, the applicant, has permission from the record owners to make the
present application. Mr. Auf der Maur intends to be the contractor, and Dr. Ralph
Juhl, a dentist, is the sponsor who anticipates being the first tenant.
Mr. Fales stated that recently representatives of the City and Chamber of Commerce
met with representatives of the State Division of Highways in order to discuss
future State highway and freeway signing in the Pleasanton area. One of the mat-
ters discussed was the possible renaming of Hacienda Road to Castlewood Drive for
identification purposes. Hacienda Road is one block in length and connects Sunol
Blvd. with Foothill Road through the Lower golf course at Castlewood Country Club.
If this road were renamed, the Division of Highways could then install a "Castle-
wood Dxive" sign on the new freeway which would also serve as a guide sign to the
Country Club and Golf Course. Upon motion of Chairman Landon, seconded by Com-
missioner Rega, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote of those
Commissioners present:
RESOLUTION N0. 299
RESOLVED:
She City Planning Commission hereby recommends that the
City Council request Alameda County to change the name
of Hacienda Road to Castlewood Drive.
Mr. Fa lea read an announcement regarding the Third Biennial Short Course for City
and County Planning Commissioners to be given on May 7-8 at the University of
California Extension Center, San Francisco. There is a $20 registration fee which
will be paid by the City. Copies of the program and application forms were made
available to the Commissioners.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion of
Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Rega, and carried, the meeting
was adjourned at 10:10 P.M., to meet again on Wednesday, April 22, 1964, at
8:00 P.M.
