CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 89-463 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ADMINISTRATIVE <br /> PROCEDURES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> PROTECTION AGENCY REQUIRING INFORMATION <br /> FROM LAWRENCE LIVERMORE LABORATORY <br /> CONCERNING THE EXISTING INCINERATOR <br /> OPERATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the incinerator at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory <br /> (the Lab) which is used to dispose of hazardous <br /> waste has been operating on an interim permit; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is <br /> reviewing the interim permit for compliance with <br /> various standards before issuance of a permanent <br /> permit; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in conjunction with this administrative procedure, <br /> the EPA has made numerous requests for information <br /> from the Lab, and, in the opinion of the EPA, the <br /> Lab has not provided the required information; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Pleasanton is <br /> vitally concerned about the health and welfare of <br /> its citizens and is committed to protecting its <br /> citizens from potential harm from hazardous <br /> emissions from the incinerator at the Lab; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council strongly supports the <br /> administrative procedures of the Environmental <br /> Protection Agency in its efforts to obtain the <br /> required information from the Lawrence Livermore <br /> Laboratory concerning the issuance of a permanent <br /> operating permit for the existing incinerator. <br /> <br />Section 2: No permits should be issued until all procedures <br /> of the Environmental Protection Agency requirements <br /> are met. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
