PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 2800 RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF THE APPLICATION OF MCKELLAR DEVELOPMENT OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AS FILED UNDER GP-86-5 WHEREAS, McKellar Development Company of Northern California has applied to amend the General Plan Land Use Element designation of an approximately 5.25 acre site from "Commercial and Offices" to "High Density Residential;" and WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of June 11, 1986 the Planning Commission considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City staff concerning this proposal; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission agrees that the short-term demand for uses on the subject site probably favors a small neighborhood commercial facility, like a Seven-Eleven, in addition to housing units. However, staff believes that the short-term pressure to redesignate the only suitable retail location in the area would jeopardize the City's mid- and long-term best interest in preserving a sufficiently large commercial site to serve future needs. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Recommends denial of Case GP-86-5, application of McKellar Development Company of Northern California to amend the General Plan Land Use Element designation of an approximately 5.25 acre site located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Mission Drive and Sunol Boulevard from "Commercial and Offices" to "High Density Residential." Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JUNE 11, 1986 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYES: Commissioners Hoyt, Innes, Michelotti, Wellman and Chairman Lindsey NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None - 1 -
