CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 89-452 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ADDING AGENDA ITEM REGARDING <br /> CONTRIBUTIONS FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF <br /> FUNDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the cities of Watsonville, Santa Cruz, and Los <br /> Gatos have recently experienced severe damage from <br /> a major earthquake; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the needs of the citizens are urgent and immediate; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, consideration of this item was not set forth on the <br /> city Council agenda for October 31, 1989, because <br /> information on the needs of these communities was <br /> not available until after the October 31, 1989 <br /> agenda was posted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Brown Act permits the Council to add an item to <br /> the agenda upon a two-thirds vote of the Council <br /> that the item arose after the time the agenda was <br /> posted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, whether to adopt a resolution to appropriate funds <br /> for earthquake relief is a critical decision <br /> because of the urgent needs of the citizens. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Based on the findings set forth above, a <br /> resolution to consider allocations for earthquake <br /> relief is hereby added to the October 31, 1989 <br /> agenda for Council consideration and action, if <br /> necessary. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
