In my communications with her, I
have noticed that she has many skills sets that I think are of utmost importance to the Poet
Laureate Position. She possesses a love for poetry, a genuine and kind approach with all
people she meets and an enthusiastic immersion into the amazing world of poetry. In addition,
I see that she has excellent communication skills which is also critical to the position of
Laureate.
Her attendance to many workshops, and membership in associations with Bay Area Poetry
associations demonstrates her interest in the movement and awareness of poetry. Her
publication record in several journals also speaks to her talent as a poet. Her awards are also
quite impressive and are worthy of acknowledgement. Martha been present at many poetry
readings and local events which I believe shows a commitment to poetry and an authentic
interest in the art.
Her skills as a librarian demonstrate her abilities to coordinate and work within organizations
for the purposes of planning. It is important to the position of Poet Laureate possess abilities
to network, plan and schedule events.
