Price and reliability and when you can deliver that to businesses it would benefit the
town.
Sonu Agarwal said that personally it has to come out clearly. What are we trying to do
here by getting local control. We don't really outline the risks. What does local control
buying mean.
Dave Walden has a lot of respect for Jill Buck, but a fear that he has is that the
government agencies would be involved. What is going to be the expense and the
expertise of the people who are doing it. It's a new level of government. Can't we
manage what we already have.
April Mitchell would like to know what part would be rebated to the community. We
would get more support if that were clear.
Discussion re: ED and Fiscal Element of General Plan:
Janice Stearns, Principal Planner, discussed the Economic Development and Fiscal
Element. There are three pieces they would like to discuss with the EVC. One is
background material, what are the strengths, trends, and trends that we have been
riding and what have we not been looking at. She doesn't have a contract or dates with the company but she does
know that they will be returning this summer. She asked for an hour and a half for
each meeting. Ms. Stearns would like 8 to 10 people to carry it through. She would
like a core of people who could consistently come to the meetings.
John Mahoney asked Pamela Ott to tell the committee a little more about how the
daily work goes into this task. Mr. Mahoney has an interest in the climate of the city for
Pleasanton. He asked if the consultant could put together a list of dates, and topics
for each meeting.
Pamela Ott said that it's important to her but it's the bigger picture. She thinks the
committee brings a broader perspective. Because it's the general plan it's the bigger
vision. It's her role to carry out the tasks. The meetings would be very important in
helping with Ms. Otts daily tasks.
Matt Sullivan said that from an economic standpoint, we need to put a plan in place
from a fiscal standpoint. We need to have a build out plan. We need to look long
term from a fiscal standpoint. Mr. Sullivan would like to see when we develop a
