CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, ALAMEDA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 99-128. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AGRICULTURAL POLICIES <br /> AND PROGRAMS FOR THE AGRICULTURE/OPEN SPACE <br /> SUBAREA OF THE HAPPY VALLEY SPECIFIC PLAN <br /> AREA <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton possesses strong agricultural roots, and the community <br /> previously included dairy farms, raising livestock, farming hops, hay and grain, as <br /> well as growing orchards and omamental crops; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of preserving land for viable, economic, and <br /> sustainable agricultural uses in the face of residential and commercial <br /> development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Happy Valley Specific Plan was approved by the City Council on June 16, <br /> 1998 and contains policies which seek to preserve the agricultural nature of the <br /> area, while allowing limited development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council considers the adoption of specific agricultural policies and <br /> programs for the Happy Valley area necessary to preserve existing agricultural <br /> operations and resolve potential conflicts between customary agricultural practices <br /> and nearby residential development. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the agricultural policies set forth in the attached Exhibit A. <br /> <br />Section 2: Directs staff to prepare draft code and ordinance modifications as set forth in the <br /> attached Exhibit B for future City Council consideration. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THE FOREGOING WAS DULY AND <br />REGULARLY ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, AT <br />A MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 19, 1999 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
