CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 99-119 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING DATES FOR DIRECT <br /> ARGUMENTS AND REBUTTAL ARGUMENTS FOR THE <br /> ANNEXATION ELECTION FOR HAPPY VALLEY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on July 29, 1999, the City Council called for a special, mail-in election regarding <br /> the Happy Valley annexation to be held on November 16, 1999; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 9282 of the Elections Code specifies the regulations regarding submittal of <br /> ballot arguments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 9285 of the Elections Code sets forth the regulations regarding submittal <br /> of rebuttals to ballot arguments; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of September 20, 1999, the City Council received the Staff Report <br /> (SR 99:284) from the City Attorney and City Clerk regarding proposed due dates <br /> for the direct and rebuttal arguments. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) approved an impartial <br /> analysis on September 16, 1999. <br /> <br />Section 2: Direct arguments must be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, <br /> October 8, 1999. The direct arguments shall not exceed 300 words and shall be <br /> signed and verified by not more than five persons. <br /> <br />Section 3: The last day for submission of rebuttal arguments for and against the proposed <br /> annexation shall be by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 1999. The rebuttal <br /> arguments shall not exceed 250 words and shall be signed and verified by not more <br /> than five persons. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
