12 <br />THE CITY OF <br />pL£~S~NTONm CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />1 <br />May 15, 2007 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS AND AWARD <br />CONTRACT TO CHRISP COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $127,314 FOR <br />ANNUAL TRAFFIC BUTTONS AND LINE MARKERS INSTALLATION, CIP <br />NO. 065007 <br />SUMMARY <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending award of the <br />construction contract to the low bidder in the amount of $127,314.25. The subject <br />project consists of removing existing pavement markers, traffic lines and traffic markers <br />and furnishings and installation of new thermoplastic markings, traffic lines and <br />pavement markers, on City streets at various locations. Project locations are identified <br />on Exhibit A (attached). <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject project to Chrisp <br />Company of Fremont, California in the amount of $127,314.25. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve change orders up to the <br />contingency amount of $12,700 (approximately 10% of the contract price). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This project will result in a decrease in long-term maintenance costs due to the painting <br />of traffic lines and legends along City Streets. <br />
