4$~sA~Toy CITY of PLEASANT~N
.~; .
.~
`~~~° Planning Commission
~..M{D f
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING.
Data ; September 12, 1972
Time : s:oo PM
PIaCe: Pleasanton Justice Court
environmental hazards caused by the extensi
of the Livermore Airport. It was indicated
that the runway may be extended by approxi-
mately 500 ft. The implication to this is
that possibly the FAA might be looking to
the outlying airports to alleviate some of
the burden presently carried by the major
airport at San Francisco.
There are serious and far-reaching problems
should the nature of the Livermore Airport
be altered to utilize a greater number of
larger-sized aircraft.
Secretary Castro indicated that Pleasanton
had a study session with the City of Livermo
regarding this matter and requested that the
City of Pleasanton be considered by the
Airport Commission when making their study.
Commissioner Pereira stated that should
nothing result from the City's initial over-
tures to be recognized by the Commission,
that we should then contact the Environmenta
Protection Agency.
Secretary Castro advised the Commission that
another meeting is to be held regarding this
study and a report will be made on this
matter.
Commissioner McLain remarked that while on
his vacation, he noted the large variety of
highway landscaping in existence.
He wished to know the scheduling for com-
pletion of landscaping for ~k580 and ~k680,
and whether or not any effort, research,
etc., is being made regarding noise abate-
ment. Perhaps this information can be ob-
tained from Sacramento.
•e
-12-
