He felt that the placement
of this land in a Study District
would hamper financing arrangements
the doctors are in the midst of. He
suggested that should the City desir
to study this area, that they do so,
but allow the applicants to retain
two acres in the Office District and
in the meantime, the Commission can
study the balance.
Dr. Schlies made a special plea for
consideration. He is ready to go
on development of his building. It
was his belief, that in order to
serve the needs of this community,
there should be 40-50 doctors. If
the hospital would move in, this are
could become a medical center. He
felt a restudy of their property is
an injustice to them and damaging to
their position.
The Public Hearing was then closed.
Secretary Castro indicated that staff
would be more than happy to work with
the property owner in developing
alternatives and in order to do this,
some modification of Council's Ordi-
nance 631 would have to be made since
it was their directive that the par-
cel stay five acres in size and con-
tain medical facilities. Discussion
followed.
The Commissioners felt that since
design plans were already submitted
for this parcel, they were reluctant
to place the area in a Study Distric
-11-
