6.6 <br /> <br />leave in order to maintain his/her regular income; <br />provided, however, that the employee shall be allowed a <br />credit against sick leave to the extent that temporary <br />disability payments are retained by the city. <br /> <br />In order to receive compensation while absent on sick <br />leave, the employee shall notify his/her manager or the <br />personnel officer prior to or within four hours after the <br />time set for beginning his/her daily duties or as may be <br />specified by the department head. When absence is for <br />more than eight (8) hours, the employee may be required <br />to file a physician's certificate or a personal affidavit <br />with the personnel officer stating the cause of the <br />absence. <br /> <br />Administrative Leave <br /> <br />On July 1st of each year, each management employee, <br />except fire battalion chiefs, shall be credited with <br />seven (7) days administrative leave to be observed <br />during the fiscal year. On December 31st of each <br />year, employees may elect to be paid for up to 3-1/2 <br />days of said leave. On June 30 of each year, each <br />employee will be paid for all unused administrative <br />leave. No administrative leave may be carried over <br />from one fiscal year to the next. <br /> <br />During the period of this plan the earning of <br />administrative leave shall be converted from a fiscal <br />year to a calendar year. This conversion shall be <br />accomplished as follows. On January 1, 1990 all <br />management employees shall be credited with 3-1/2 days <br />of administrative leave. Fire battalion chiefs shall <br />be credit with an additional twelve (12) hours <br />administrative leave. On January 1, 1992 and each <br />January 1st thereafter management employees shall be <br />credited with seven (7) days administrative leave <br />except fire battalion chiefs who shall be credited <br />with twenty four (24) hours of administrative leave. <br /> <br />Management employees hired after July 1st, but prior <br />to April 1st of any fiscal year, shall receive <br />prorated administrative leave. Effective January 1, <br />1991 said dates shall be changed to January 1st and <br />October 1st. Except for fire battalion chiefs, <br />managers shall receive 4.667 hours of administrative <br />leave for each full month of employment occurring <br />between their date of hire and June 30th. Fire <br />battalion chiefs shall receive two (2) hours of <br />administrative leave for each full month of employment <br />occurring between the above dates. <br /> <br />- 12 - <br /> <br /> <br />
