Lisa Pruitt of Vineyard Avenue won- dered if a park could be developed where the church site used to be. She was in favor of the church being moved to Mirador. I~r. Bynum then stated the church people would be willing to work with City staff to have an alternative to the Sharab Court exit. The Public Hearing was closed. Commissioner Doherty concluded from past history on this case that the church was planned for the new site since 1964. He felt findings could be made to approve this application subject to staff conditions. Commissioner Shepherd was concerned about the divisiveness between cer- tain members of the .church regarding the proposed move. But unless City staff can come up with a historical overlay district, the Commission must take a position on the use per- mit. He did not like the entry on Sharab Court. This was echoed by Commissioner Carrigan. He also wanted more assurances that screen- ing would be provided between the church property and the single family areas. Deputy City Attorney indi- cated these requirements could be conditioned into the approval. Deputy City Attorney Levine then stated that there is a historical overlay ordinance and read excerpts from it.
