REFERRALS FROM CITY COUNCIL
A. Councilmember Brandes stated that on January 15, 10:00 A.M., to noon,
review of the LAVWMA project at the Shannon Community Center in Dublin would
take place.
B. Councilmember Brandes then stated that in conjunction with the upholding
of the appeal on the Oak Tree Center application, the City Council asked
that the Design Review Board (when they review the new plan for this center)
submit to the Council any action they take regarding the median breaks on
both Valley and Hopyard.
MATTERS FOR INFORMATION OF COMMISSION
A. Secretary Harris advised the Commissioners that an application for a home
occupation permit for an outcall massage service was received. The application
meets the criteria recently adopted as an exempt home occupation. Mr. Harris
wished to know if the Planning Commission wishes to review this application.
Chairman Butler indicated that the ordinance, as revised is clear on this
point and the application should be handled accordingly.
Mr. Levine further indicated that in addition to the home occupation clearance,
the applicant would need clearance from the Police Department.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
A. Chairman Butler congratulated Commissioner Wood on behalf of himself
and the other Commissioners regarding the Mayor's Award he had received
recently. Chairman Butler said that the Planning Commission owes him very
much for his service to the community.
B. Regarding matters that are heard by the Planning Commission, then sent
on to City Council for final action, Chairman Butler stated that at the last
two meetings, the Council had reversed three Planning Commission decisions;
namely, rezoning of the property on Vineyard Avenue; H. C. Elliott's pro-
perty at Tawny and Pico and Palomino, which Council placed in the Planned
Unit Development District; and the upholding of the citizens' appeal on
Oak Tree Center. He felt good about Mr. Beratlis's comments that he would
develop the property now without utilizing the P-zoned property.
C. Councilmember Brandes stated that the City Council would be inter-
viewing the citizens from whom they would choose the members for the Growth
Management Committee. He asked input from the Commissioners if they have
any specific feeling about a particular candidate.
D. Commissioner Jamieson requested, in an attempt to keep the avenues into
the City as attractive as possible, that the City attempt to get Kaiser to
screen their portion of the property on Stanley Boulevard. Also, if a com-
munication could be sent to the County to request Rhodes & Jamieson to
screen their property.
E. Commissioner Jamieson expressed surprise that the City is writing the
environmental impact report for Huntze's property. Secretary Harris ex-
plained that the City is responsible for this procedure; however, a con-
sultant would be hired to do the actual writing, with the fee paid by the
applicant.
F. Commissioner Wood asked Mr. Levine how the recent opinion of the U. S.
Supreme Court regarding low cost housing is going to affect decisions made
-9-
_ _.. ~____~_ _ . ___ ,.._. .___.. __. ..__~ _ .....~__ ~.r_ _...... . _ _ _.. .._.._._ . __.... _._ . _,.. _.._ _ _..__
