MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Pleasanton Council Chambers <br />30 West Angela Street <br />April 13, 1977 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at <br />9:25 P.M., by Chairman Butler. <br />The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited by all present. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Commissioners Present: Doherty, Jamieson, Shepherd, Wood, Chairman Butler <br />Commissioners Absent: None <br />Staff Members Present: Robert J. Harris, Director of Planning; Harvey Levine, <br />Deputy City Attorney; Don Sooby, Director of Engineering Services; Frank <br />Brandes, Council Liaison; Yvonne McFadden, Recording Secretary. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />The minutes of the March 9, 1977, meeting were approved as submitted. <br />REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Secretary Harris requested the following revisions: Withdraw Items 5a <br />UP-76-29, Douglas Huntze and 5c, V-76-25, Earl Adams and Joseph Madden. <br />Also, continue 5b GP-76-6, Thomas K. McManus, for several months, and <br />continue Item 10a, Joseph Madden application before the County to rezone <br />7.65 acres located at the eastern end of that section of Stanley Boulevard, <br />between Santa Rita Road and First Street. This continuance was requested <br />for six months pending annexation proceedings for the property to Pleasanton. <br />Because of the large group of people present for the home occupation appli- <br />cation at 6264 Guyson Court, it was decided to hear that item next. <br />Z-77-35, Tri-Cities Ambulance, Inc. - application for a home occupation <br />permit to operate an ambulance service from a single family residence <br />at 6264 Guyson Court. <br />Secretary Harris explained the staff report. He was recommending denial of <br />the application, but because of the vital nature of the service being <br />offered, he recommended a grace period in which the company could relocate <br />to a more appropriate area. He then described the nature of the numerous <br />complaints received from the neighbors, which ranged from possible excessive <br />speed in the court, to depreciation of property values. <br />In conclusion, Secretary Harris advised the Commissioners that this operation <br />did not receive sanction from the City prior to starting up the business at <br />6264 Guyson Court. <br />Commissioner Wood congratulated the staff of the ambulance company for the <br />quality of service they perform, but he felt that a residential area is <br />inappropriate for this business. He suggested keeping the vehicle(s) at <br />the fire house. Commissioner Doherty offered a similar recommendation. <br />
