MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
PLANNING COMMISSION
Pleasanton Council Chambers
30 West Angela Street
June 29, 1977
4 :30 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order
by Acting Chairman Wood.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Present: Jamieson, Shepherd, Acting Chairman Wood
Commissioners Absent: Doherty and Chairman Butler
Staff Members Present: Robert Harris, Director of Planning; Harvey
Levine, Deputy City Attorney; Yvonne McFadden, Recording Secretary.
Councilmembers Ken Mercer and Frank Brandes arrived at 4:40 P.M.
PUBLIC HEARINGS - NEW BUSINESS
Z-77-96, Tri-Cities Ambulance, Inc. - application for a home occupa-
tion permit to operate an ambulance service out of a residence located
at 2297 Tanager Drive, Pleasanton; zoning for the property is R-1-6500
(Single Family) District.
Secretary Harris explained that although the ambulance service had 90
days to relocate from their location at 6264 Guyson Court, they had
received an eviction notice from the landlord effective July 1, 1977.
They had secured the location oil Tanager Drive and requested the
Commission to help them expedite their permit to locate there. Since
there was a real estate sign on the property, Secretary Harris clari-
fied that he had talked to the real estate agent and learned that the
new owner had arranged to rent the house to Tri-Cities Ambulance.
Staff felt that this location was about as good a residential location
for such a service as could be found in Pleasanton. Recommendation
was for approval subject to the five conditions in the staff report.
Commissioner Jamieson wondered about holding meetings at 4:30 P.M.,
when the majority of the male occupants of the area might not be able
to attend. Acting Chairman Wood thought it was a point well taken.
Commissioner Shepherd, however, could find nothing wrong with setting
meetings during the afternooon.
Secretary Harris indicated the staff had received four inquiries. Two
are opposed, one is concerned but felt with the proper controls, would
be acceptable. Another inquiry was from a woman who came into the
office, but she had no problems after reading the staff recommendations.
Secretary Harris described the routes the ambulance service would use
per staff recommendations.
