Application for a general plan amendment which would change the land
use designation of a 3.8 acre parcel of land located along the west side
of the SPRR beginning at the intersection of Santa Rita Road and the
SPRR (near Sutter Gate Avenue), and extending about 1500 feet south from
"Open Space-Public Health and Safety" to "General and Limited Industrial."
The Public Hearing was opened on the general plan review.
Mr. Corley spoke for the application. He provided the Commissioners with
a brief explanation of the background on this application.
Chairman Butler indicated that the Commission quite often finds itself
faced with inadequate buffer zones. Mr. Corley replied that he felt this
property is ideal for industrial uses, which can be compatible with multiple
development if the right type of industry located there.
Mr. Levine reminded the Commissioners that there are many industrial uses
which are incompatible with adjacent properties and that by once-zoned
industrial the City would have limited controls on the type of industrial
development there.
The Public Hearing was closed.
Chairman Butler did note that there is industrial zoning across on the
opposite side of the railroad tracks.
Commissioner Shepherd expressed concern and stated his inclination
would be to leave it alone until there is more precise development plans.
Resolution No. 1589 was entered and adopted recommending approval of
GP-77-5 as petitioned.
Roll Call Vote
Resolution: Wood
Seconded: Jamieson
Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, Wood, Chairman Butler
Noes: Shepherd
Absent: None
Abstain: None
UP-77-19, Valley Volunteer Bureau - application for a conditional use
permit to allow the operation of the volunteer bureau to be located at
519 Kottinger Drive (the Police Training Building).
Secretary Harris explained the staff report. Hours of operation would be
10:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. No night meetings were anticipated. Recommendation is
for approval subject to required findings and conditions in report.
The Public Hearing was opened.
Betty Stallings was present to answer questions.
The Public Hearing was closed.
-10-
_.__.._.~_____. .______., . __.._._ _...._.,.. _ .._r .__ ._
