Commissioner Shepherd said he was pleased to see how the neighbors have <br />come down to state their position. He felt that when people buy property <br />and a specific zoning exists in their area, he thinks it is unfair to <br />change the zoning on them. He recommended denial of the General Plan <br />amendment. Commissioner Doherty concurred with this position. He felt <br />the existing commercial is appropriate for development, but did not agree <br />with an expansion of that commercial development. <br />Commissioner Jamieson felt that the existing commercial zoning was adequate <br />to serve the residential area. But he could not support this application. <br />Chairman Butler said that personally he felt that the impact on neighbors <br />and the City is not going to be worse than high density multiple development. <br />There is also a serious consideration for City's need for further commer- <br />cial development. <br />Resolution No. 1619 was entered and adopted recommending to the City Council <br />denial of GP-78-2 as petitioned. <br />Roll Call Vote <br />Resolution: Shepherd <br />Seconded: Doherty <br />Ayes: Doherty, Jamieson, <br />Noes: Butler <br />Absent: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Shepherd, Wood <br />Chairman Butler commented that he was glad to see the residents come down <br />to speak against this application, even though he personally did not agree <br />with their position. Mr. Kovac thanked the Chairman and the Planning <br />Commission for their consideration of the matter. <br />GP-78-1, City of Pleasanton <br />Review of a negative declaration for a Safety Element of the Pleasanton <br />General Plan. <br />Application for the adoption of a Safety Element to the Pleasanton General <br />Plan which would contain goals, policies and implementation programs with <br />respect to policies and implementation programs with respect to protection <br />from fire, flood, geologic and nuclear hazards. <br />Chairman Butler opened the Public Hearing and continued the matter to the <br />April 12, 1978 meeting. Commissioner Jamieson suggested a study session <br />to review this element, but the Chairman felt that decision should be <br />deferred at least until after the April 12 meeting. <br />MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW <br />Review of revised master plan for Youth Sports Park <br />Park and Landscape Designer Al Dutchover described the revisions, which <br />were also delineated in his February 16, 1978 memorandum to the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br />-11- <br />_...__._..._.... r....... <br />
