Zoning for the property is
C-C (Central Commercial) District.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report and the applicant's request. Mr. Harris
showed a colored rendering to the Commission. He stated this application
is for this particular rendering of the building only and at a later date
a site plan would be brought before the Commission indicating parking,
landscaping, etc. for this C-O District.
Mr. Frank Capilla, 1500 Rose Avenue, spoke stating there is a weight
problem concerning the canopy and they would like to use shake instead
of the the on the roof. He stated they would take the building down to
just a slab with four walls and a roof in their remodeling. He stated
the rendering presented at this time would be used to advertise the building
for potential renters as the building as it now stands is unsightly and
not appealing to future tenants.
It was motioned by Chairman Doherty and seconded by Commissioner Getty that
the rendering presented to the Commission be recommended for approval to
the City Council.
ROLL CALL VOTE
Ayes : Commissioner Getty , Jamieson and Chairman Doherty
Noes: None
Absent: Commissioners Leppert and Wilson
Resolution No. 1760 was then entered and adopted to recommend to the City
Council that the rendering presented be allowed to be used for advertising
purposes.
GP-79-7, Art Dunkley
Application for a general plan amendment to change the land use designation
of a 6 acre parcel of land located at the southwest corner of Pico Avenue
and Vineyard Avenue from "Parks and Recreation" to "Medium Density Resi-
dential." The Planning Commission may recommend approval of the requested
change or recommend any other change in the property's land use designation.
The Planning Commission may also recommend a change in the General Plan
designation of the adjacent 10 acre parcel of land (located immediately
easterly of the Mavis Drive, Ewing Drive, Rowell Lane residential area)
from "Parks and Recreation" to another land use designation. A negative
declaration of environmental impacts will also be considered.
Mr. Harris explained the staff report. He stated that while the Parks and
Recreation Commission feels this area should remain as parks, the City
staff feels it is unlikely the City would have sufficient funds to buy
the site at any time in the near future.
-2-
