PLANNING CONI~^'IISSION
5/25/83
Page 8
analysis of the traffic impacts for the alternative uses.
Commissioner Lindsey wanted to know how this would relate to the
now existing traffic and would the additional vehicles create a
problem.
Commissioner Wilson indicated we are looking at an additional
61 townhouses and the Kaiser expansion. T~lon't this overburden
the intersection? Mr. Ivy responded that the intersection is
operating at Service Level C and when full buildout for StoneridQe
is complete that the intersection would remain at Level C.
Commissioner Getty pointed out the changes in the area and was
concerned about construction of the small shopping center in
this area due to the existing traffic problems. She also pointed
out that the Kaiser facility parking lot is already full now,
when it was not expected to reach this capacity at this time.
Eleanor Peabody, 5143 Oakdale Court, addressed the Commission
and again stressed that hiuh density development was not consistent
with the area and she and her neighbors were concerned with the
density and traffic.
Commissioner Wilson pointed out that if there is a problem with
traffic now, then Schumaker could not build his project and
Kaiser could not build its proposed expansion.
The public hearing was closed.
Mr. Harris requested guidance from the Commission on the parameters
of the study. Staff was asked to look at the ultimate
potential of traffic at the intersection and should look at
the impact of medium density as opposed to high density. Commissioner
Doherty indicated the information should show what the difference
is for peak hour and total traffic between medium density and
high density. The study should also cover the whole Kaiser
project to decide if their expansion should be allowed.
Z-83-2, City Hall Expansion
Discussion of this item was moved to the end of the a¢enda.
TETITATIVE MAPS
Tract 4850, Northwood Homes
App ication or a one year extension for Tentative Tract r'Ian
4850 for Northwood Homes.
Mr. Harris reviewed the staff report and presented two additional
conditions for this project. The Commission had no questions of
the staff.
.. .. _... .. _,._ .,. ... .....__.. _~..~.._.. ... ,..~~.. .. ., .......__..__..._._.. ... _.~ .~„ T
