Ron Schneider, 650 Orofino Ct., president of the Vintage Hills Homeowners Association supported this proposal. They recognize the traffic problems of the area but feel that the benefit of the park will override adverse traffic impacts. Commissioner Innes asked if a vote was taken of the homeowners. They have worked with the developer on this project and now concerns expressed on previous projects concerning trafficrovalcofltheb84k to haunt them. They are willing to recommend app units to get a park. The only problem he sees with the park is that there are about 1000 rentals and low income units within the area of the park. There could be policing problems. Police would have to come in from two different areas to stop problems. City staff wants a passageway but no one else has come out in favor of it. He is vehemently opposed to it. Further he has a neighbor who is a sheriff and he has indicated that parks are always a problem. Jim Wohl, 3437 Bernal Avenue, has lived there since 1961. He is against the entire thing. One of the City staff said it would take 17 ft. from his property. He felt that would put the traffic very close to his house. At times the truck traffic is so bad now you cannot hear the television in his house. Mr. Warnick suggested that perhaps the trucks in the area were going to Flair Market or perhaps were for the projects currently under construction in the area. He explained that Stanley and First Street are currently the only truck routes in town. He urged Mr. Wohl to contact Mr. Okamura or his staff concerning how much of Mr. Wohl's property would be used for the widening. Frank Belecky, 892 Madeira Drive supported the comments of Brian Hoyt. He felt a passageway could create some real problems for the area. Dolores Bengtson, Director of Recreation and Camesnand notvices indicated the park would be used for pick up g organized sports. It will also have a 40' tot play area. She reviewed the park plan on the schematic presented. She stated that passageway is needed to allow access from Vineyard Avenue. If there is no parking on Tawny she is not sure where they will park if the park itself is closed off from Vineyard Avenue. There will be minimum low level lighting in the passageway to the between Tawny and Vineyard. She indicated that in talking Police Department, their comment was that for whatever reason there have been few problems with passageways in Pleasanton.
