Classification Step A Step B Step C Step D Step E <br /> Firefighter $2985 $3134 $3290 $3455 $3628 <br /> Fire Engineer 3133 3290 3455 3628 3809 <br /> Fire Lieutenant 3291 3456 3629 3810 4000 <br /> Fire Captain 3620 3800 3990 4190 4400 <br /> Effective at the beginning of the pay period closest to September <br /> 1, 1991, the salary ranges for all classifications within the fire <br /> employees' unit shall be increased nine percent (9 %). <br /> Effective at the beginning of the pay period closest to September <br /> 1, 1992 the salary ranges for all classifications within the fire <br /> employees' unit shall be increased six percent (6 %). <br /> 5.2 Entrance Salary <br /> The entrance salary for a new employee entering the City <br /> service shall be the minimum salary for the class to which <br /> he /she is appointed. When circumstances warrant, the <br /> Appointing Authority may authorize original appointment or <br /> reinstatement at other than the minimum rate. <br /> 5.3 Conversion of Pay Rates <br /> Any monthly rate of pay may be converted into any <br /> equivalent rate of pay or to any other time basis when, in <br /> the judgment of the City Manager, such a conversion is <br /> advisable. In determining the equivalent amounts on <br /> different time basis, the City Manager shall provide <br /> tables for use in converting monthly salaries to hourly <br /> rates, as well as for calculating hourly rates. <br /> 5.4 Salary Advancement <br /> Employees serving in regular established positions shall <br /> be advanced from the "A" Step to the "B" Step in their <br /> respective classifications after completion of twelve (12) <br /> months of full -time satisfactory service, and thereafter <br /> shall be advanced to the next higher step after completion <br /> of one (1) year of full -time satisfactory service, in each <br /> of the salary steps for the classification until the top <br /> of the range is reached. No salary advancement shall be <br /> made so as to exceed any maximum rate established in the <br /> pay plan for the class to which the advanced employee's <br /> position is allocated. Salary increases shall not be <br /> automatic but shall depend upon the employees rendering <br /> - 7 - <br />
