The process <br />takes a few weeks and produces usable compost. <br />Staff recommends this one time allocation as it is in concert with the City's goal of <br />increasing food scrap and green waste collection throughout the community. This can <br />serve as a fine example for partnering with the schools to educate the children about <br />reuse and composting, as well as to further organics recycling in the community. <br />The Go Green Initiative has a proven track record for success in the Pleasanton schools. <br />Staff is recommending a Measure D grant in the amount of $32,000 for the 2007-08 <br />school year to provide funds to the Pleasanton schools to implement the Go Green <br />program and an additional one time grant of $10,000 for an on site Earth Tub for the <br />Hearst Elementary School partnership project.
