Greg Smith, 4943 Foothill Road, Pleasanton, asked that the City
set aside a certain number of units per year for the small
developer. He said small developers need to be considered as they
have served us well.
Harvey Levine, 1296 Vintner Avenue, Pleasanton, spoke about the
hundreds of people who put in many hours of their time by serving
on Industrial and Residential Committees and he hoped that the
proposals will be given careful consideration.
Mayor Brandes said he is concerned with the provision of
infrastructure. He would like to have some benchmark.
Commissioner Michelotti stated that the population increased
quickly before the benchmarks.
Commissioner Innes stated that if our employment rate increases
as projected, we could go to 1000 units per year very quickly.
Councilmember Mohr asked if the State of the City report
addresses this problem. Mr. Lee answered that we are trying to
make it more and more specific over time.
Councilmember Mercer feels that a maximum 1000 units a year does
not seem especially high and that Council has discretion to
reduce that number in any given year.
Commissioner Wilson pointed out that the General Plan calls for a
75/25 split between single family and multiple family housing.
The consensus on the Growth Management Policies was Option 1
which states that the annual growth rate would be between 260 and
650 units per year, unused allocations would accrue to subsequent
years and exemptions would be allowed in addition to the annual
allocation up to a maximum of 1000 units in any year.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 12:01 A.M. by Councilmember Mercer
in honor of George Spiliotopoulos who has given so much of his
time and energy to our City.
- 13 -
