Minutes
Planning Commission
May 14, 1986
MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Commissioner Wellman asked who is responsible for the maintenance
on Hopyard Road, next to the Parkside development as it is in
need of maintenance. Mr. Okamura responded that it is the City's
responsibility and the City is working with the Hacienda Owners
Association investigating the possibility of swapping maintenance
responsibilities.
Because of the increasing situations with satellite dishes,
Commissioner Innes said he would like to have a condition added
to new developments requiring that they must plumb for cable
service; thus, making the developer responsible for
distribution. Commissioner Wellman said as an alternative to
this, perhaps a satellite installation could be created within
the design of the buildings. Commissioner Innes indicated that
possibly this would work. A motion was then made by Commissioner
Innes, seconded by Commissioner Hoyt that a condition be added to
new developments requiring that they be plumbed for cable
television service. This motion carried 5-0.
Chairman Lindsey asked staff to check the conditions of approval
of the Game Station as there is loitering, littering, and other
problems with the use. Mr. Swift indicated he would have staff
look into this matter and report back to the Commission.
Z-86-132, Z-86-133 and Z-85-409
Application of Trammell Crow Company, Val Strough and East Bay
BMW for design review approval of a comprehensive sign program
for the 49 acre PUD located at the southwest corner of the
intersection of I-580 and Santa Rita Road. Zoning for the
property is PUD (Planned Unit Development)-Central Commercial
District.
Mr. Swift presented the staff report on the above three
applications.
The public hearing was opened.
Trammell Crow
Peter Schnugg, Trammell Crow, 6000 Stoneridge Mall Road, made his
presentation indicating that they were the owners of the entire
46 acre site until the time they sold off portions to automobile
dealerships. Trammell Crow agrees to delete the third sign
(project identification signs) since they have no development
plan to present. The first two signs are project identification
signs. He presented their signing goals for the site. They
currently have a firm commitment with Longs Drugs and are
negotiating with three other regional-oriented tenants. The type
of use will be a home-improvement, hardware store type business.
They are amenable to modify the project signs on Santa Rita Road.
They have learned there is an ordinance prohibiting signage in
public medians.
- 2 -
. _ _ _ _ r_ ~
