Minutes
Planning Commission
June 24, 1987
construction drawings for the building permit and hope to be
under construction in the Spring.
Commissioner Michelotti asked staff when it is anticipated
Hopyard improvements would be completed. Mr. Leach stated total
improvements are expected to be completed in March 1989.
Commissioner Mahern asked how
site even though the area is
there are 82 spaces in the
commercial building.
many parking spaces exist now on
not striped. While the application before the Planning Commission
does meet the zoning requirements, from a planning standpoint he
could not support the application because of existing traffic and
circulation conditions.
Commissioner Michelotti said the probable benefit of this
application is the fact that the corner of Hopyard and Owens
would be improved and one would not then have to look at a vacant
lot. Other than this benefit, she could not see the City getting
anything but headaches should this project be approved.
Commissioner Michelotti could support this application or any
other application unless the Hopyard interchange is completed and
improvements re on site. Illustrations were presented at this
meeting which show how the situation actually is.
Commissioner Mahern stated that unfortunately for the applicant
other uses in the center are very successful businesses.
- 6 -
