Minutes <br />Planning Commission <br />Wednesday, April 22, 1987 <br />OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearings <br />PUD-87-2, Harbor View Investment, Inc. <br />Application of Harbor View Investment, Inc. to rezone-from "A" <br />(Agricultural) District to PUD (Planned Unit Development) - <br />Commercial and Offices District and development plan approval for <br />a seven-story 150 room hotel, restaurant, and related facilities, <br />to be located on an approximately 3.6 acre site, located at 11920 <br />Old Dublin Canyon Road. <br />This matter was continued to May 13, 1987. <br />NEW BUSINESS - Public Hearings <br />UP-87-7, KMA Martial Arts Academy <br />Application of KMA Martial Arts Academy for a conditional use <br />permit to allow for the operation of a studio for the instruction <br />of martial arts to be located at 3003-B Hopyard Road. Zoning for <br />the property is PUD (Planned Unit Development) - Central <br />commercial. <br />Mr. Swift presented the staff repor <br />subject application. Because this <br />type, staff is recommending there <br />Planning Commission. <br />t recommending approval of the <br />is the first studio of this <br />be a six month review by the <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Al Sim, 39417 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, the applicant, stated that <br />they have read and agree with the report of the staff. <br />Chairman Lindsey asked if this studio is to be in the same <br />building as Caldwell Banker and asked whether Caldwell Banker <br />knew of the impending use. Mr. Sim said they indeed will locate <br />in the same building and Caldwell Banker does know of their <br />application. Mr. Sim reported that at their Fremont location <br />they are next to a reading center, so the Planning Commission can <br />see that the generation of noise from their studio is minimal. <br />Mr. Louis Sayse, Caldwell Banker, 600 Adding Street, Fremont, <br />said his son started in the Fremont martial arts school two years <br />ago. Since that time his exercise has brought him to tremendous <br />level and in fact has caused his grade level to go up in reading. <br />Mr. Sayse was so impressed with this fact, that he has since <br />become a member himself. Mr. Sayse added that this use will be <br />an asset to the Pleasanton community. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner <br />Commissioner Berger that all findings <br />are made and that Case UP-87-7 be <br />conditions shown in that report. <br />Michelotti, seconded by <br />shown in the staff report <br />approved subject to the <br />- 4 - <br />
