ValleyCare Health System <br />Community Benefit Report FY 2005-2006 <br />COMMUNITY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT SERVICES <br />ValleyCare's primary service area has projected continued population growth as well as <br />an increase in average age as baby boomers become seniors. The current population <br />of the Tri-Valley is estimated at 236,850 people and the overall population is projected <br />to grow at 1.5 percent per year between 2006 and 2011 ~. In San Ramon, the development <br />of Dougherty Valley will effectively double San Ramon's population, adding 11,000 <br />dwelling units fo the city. The developers anticipate a projected total population in San <br />Ramon of approximately 96,0002 by 2020. Dougherty Valley High School will open in <br />Fall 20073 with an estimated 1400+ student population. <br />In Dublin, there are approved plans to build about 12,000 homes and apartments on the <br />eastern side, with a projected total population in Dublin of approximately 69,0004 by <br />2020. This creates an increased need for health care services and professionals in the <br />Tri-Valley community. <br />In early 2006, The Tri-Valley Business Council conducted a series of Focus Groups with <br />various company executives to befter understand the needs of those currently doing <br />business in the region. As a result, it was found that "quality of life" was among the <br />highest concerns of the participants.
