CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 90-123 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A LINE OF SUCCESSION TO THE <br />POSITION OF CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council of the City of Pleasanton desires <br />to provide a formal line of succession to the city <br />manager in the unexpected absence or unavailability <br />of the manager in accordance with Ordinance 2.08.050 <br />of the Municipal Code; and <br /> <br />'WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the formal line of succession does not preclude the <br />manager from specifically appointing an interim city <br />manager; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the formal line of succession is for routine daily <br />activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the event of a natural disaster, the line of <br /> succession is altered to recognize the interim <br /> priority of emergency services. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The following shall be the line of succession to <br /> the position of city manager in the unexpected <br /> absence of the city manager: <br /> <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br />5. <br />6. <br />7. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager <br />City Attorney <br />Director of Planning and Community Development <br />Police Chief <br />Fire Chief <br />Director of Public Works and Utilities <br />Director of Parks and Community Services <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br /> In the event of a natural disaster or local state <br />of emergency, the following shall be the line of <br />succession to the position of city manager: <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager <br />Police Chief <br />Fire Chief <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br /> The particular individuals serving as city manager <br />pro tempore would continue until the city manager <br />resumes duties or until the City Council appoints a <br />successor. <br /> <br /> <br />
