CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-121 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING CERTAIN POLICIES <br />FOR THE NOVEMBER 6, 1990 MUNICIPAL <br />ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Section 10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the <br />City Council to establish certain charges for <br />handling candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council, at its meeting of June 25, 1990, <br />considered the options available under the above- <br />mentioned section pertaining to the length of the <br />candidate's statement, billing candidates the pro <br />rata cost of printing and mailing to voters the <br />candidates' statements and setting rules and <br />regulations for additional materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />prior to the November 6, 1990 election, the City <br />Council must establish a procedure to resolve tie <br />votes should a tie vote occur; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the city Clerk has presented the two options <br />available to address this issue; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Authorizes the City Clerk to request <br /> consolidation of the Pleasanton municipal election <br /> with the statewide general election on November 6, <br /> 1990. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount <br />for the cost of printing and mailing their <br />Statement of Qualifications. <br /> <br />Section 3: The candidate's Statement of Qualifications shall <br /> not exceed 200 words. <br /> <br />Section 3: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and <br /> sample ballot shall be transmitted by the city <br /> Clerk to the voters. If a candidate wishes to send <br /> additional materials to the voters, it will have to <br /> be at the candidate's expense and by persons other <br /> than the City. <br /> <br />Section 4: Council hereby selects alternative B, order a <br /> special run-off election in case of a tie vote at <br /> the November 6, 1990 election, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
