The City Council declared by resolution the above listed property a nuisance <br />that steal I be abated. <br />Action Required: Abate the hazard by May 31, 2007, by removing the accumulation and growth of grass, <br />weeds and/or combustible trash in a manner approved by the Fire Department per the enclosed standards and <br />maintain the property in a fire safe condition. <br />A copy of the specific standards for weed abatement is enclosed. Hazards include, but are not limited to, dead <br />trees, dead shrubs, dry grass and trash as well as dirt and/or debris which would hamper Fire Department <br />access to the site should there be a fire. <br />Alternative: Submit a copy of a contract signed by a weed abatement contractor to the Fire Department <br />before May I I, 2007. The contract must have a specified completion date and the job must be completed by <br />June 4, 2007. <br />A hearing for objections by property owners will be held at the City Council meeting on April 17, 2007. By <br />resolution, the City Council ruled on the objections and directed the City contractor to abate weeds beginning <br />June I, 2007. If the fire hazard has not been properly abated al the time the City conn-actor arrives at the <br />property, then the contractor will abate the hazard. The owner of the land will be assessed the cost of <br />abatement and disposal fees, plus an administrative assessment of one hundred percent (100/) of the <br />abatement costs. Such costs, if not paid by July 17, 2007, will be sent to the Alameda County Tax Assessor <br />for special assessment on the tax roll as a lien upon such land. <br />If you have questions, no longer own the property, the property has been developed or if you believe it has no <br />potential fire hazard, please call Fire Prevention at (925) 454-2366. <br />Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. <br />William Cody <br />Fire Chief <br />
