THE CITY OF <br />i <br />~L~E~S~NTONo <br />2 <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />March 6, 2007 <br />City Manager <br />TITLE: APPROVE MEASURE D RECYCLING FUNDS TO SUPPORT GO GREEN <br />INITIATIVE RECYCLING PROGRAMS AT SCHOOL SITES FOR 2006-07 <br />SUMMARY <br />Staff is recommending a Measure D grant in the amount of $18,000 to the Pleasanton <br />Unified School District to be used to implement the Go Green Initiative recycling <br />program in the schools. The PUSD Environmental Awareness Committee will <br />administer the funds and provide the City with quarterly monitoring reports, as required <br />by both the City and state. The Go Green Initiative program provides the City an <br />opportunity to partner with the school district, parents, teachers and children to <br />implement a variety of programs that support recycling and environmental awareness in <br />the schools. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement awarding an $18,000 grant in <br />Measure D recycling funds to the Pleasanton Unified School District to implement the <br />Go Green Initiative recycling programs at Pleasanton public schools for the remainder <br />of the 2006-07 school year. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The $18,000 grant is from the City's Measure D recycling funds. Measure D funds are <br />restricted revenue that can only be used by the City to advance recycling programs. <br />
