THE CITY OF i ~~ ~ ~L~~S~4NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT February 20, 2007 City Manager TITLE: APPROVAL OF CITY COUNCIL ANNUAL WORK PLAN FOR 2007/2008 SUMMARY This report provides information needed for the City Council to adopt a new Annual Work Plan for 2007/2008. The Annual Work Plan is designed to inform the community of the Council's "shared vision" and provide the City Manager with the policy direction needed to direct City resources including preparation of the City Budget which is currently underway. It is anticipated the Council will update the Annual Work Plan in spring of 2008 to assure it remains consistent with its goals and objectives and to provide any additional information required for preparation of the Mid-Term Budget process. In this way, the work plan covers atwo-year period updated annually consistent with the City Budget process. COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION While City Commissions did not review the final work plan, the City Council requested all commissions review and comment on the current 2006/2007 work plan. Commission comments also included identification of projects not currently on the work plan for City Council consideration. This information was used by the City Council as part of its preparation and discussion at its January 23 workshop. RECOMMENDATION Approve the Annual Work Plan attached to this report as Attachment A. FINANCIAL STATEMENT There is no direct financial impact as a result of this report. However many of the projects included in the work plan have a financial impact which will be addressed through the City Budget including the Capital Improvement Program.
