Explore the need for better physical and transportation connections between <br />downtown and the F airgrounds including use of a shuttle service to move people <br />between areas, and improved signage and walkways for pedestrians. <br />^ Study Napa Valley's car-free tourism initiatives for potential implementation in the <br />Tri-Valley. <br />Further strengthen downtown Pleasanton as an attraction for shoppers, diners, and <br />culturaUhistoric visitors. Examples of this include: <br />° Use the Public Art Master Plan for Downtown to reinforce the identity of <br />Downtown a s a destination <br />° Use development of the Firehouse Arts Center as a catalyst to expand the <br />Downtown to Railroad Avenue and to support local shops and restaurants. <br />° Involve the Pleasanton Downtown Association in future planning for a new <br />Library, and explore options for siting that would reinforce downtown <br />activity. <br />° Use the Bernal cultural/arts component to strengthen Downtown. <br />° Encourage cross-promotion of businesses and establishments within <br />Downtown. <br />° Implement wayfinding /signage in order to better navigate to Downtown <br />from freeways, hotels, and the Fairgrounds, as well as within Downtown. <br />^ Market events for specialty users taking advantage of demographics, location, <br />ethnicities, etc. <br />22 <br />
