• Centurion Scout Alarm ($7,000)
The Centurion Scout Alarm is a portable wireless alarm system deployable in a variety
of ways that targets high-risk situations including frequent burglaries or vandalism sites;
construction and storage site thefts; and repeat domestic violence. These incidents
predominately occur at night in isolated areas out of public view, making it difficult for
law enforcement to be alerted until after a crime has been completed. The Scout Alarm
can be activated by a wide range of trigger devices and sensors, including door and
window contacts, motion detectors, sensor pads, trip beams, and mercury tilt switches.
One or all sensors can be deployed along with video cams with low light applications
and recording capability. The Scout Alarm is integrated into a police radio and any
activation would be simultaneously transmitted over the police radio system initiating an
immediate police response. This equipment can also be shared with the other law
enforcement agencies working with the Pleasanton Police Department to address
regional theft issues.
• Click2Enter ($6,410)
The Click2Enter product is an electronic scanner system that automatically opens
electric gates and door systems via a radio signal. This state of the art technology
allows emergency services (Police and Fire) immediate access to gated areas and
complexes with the click of a microphone. Once an emergency vehicle is within close
proximity to the system and a radio microphone is depressed, the preprogrammed radio
frequencies will activate the system and open the gate. This system will initially be
placed on the two police facility gates and the drive-in sally port door leading to the
police holding facility. The police department will then partner with several "high
response" gated communities and complexes to install the system and further evaluate
its effectiveness. Eight units will be purchased at a cost of $650 each.
• Patrol Ballistic Shield &Monoshock Ram ($7,000)
These funds will be used to purchase a Ballistic Shield and Monoshock Ram for each of
the two supervisor vehicles. Currently when the need arises for this type of equipment
in the field, officers are dispatched back to the police station to retrieve equipment from
the equipment armory. This is very time consuming and creates a potentially hazardous
safety situation for personnel at a scene working to effectively resolve conflict or
needing to gain immediate entry into a location or structure.
• Bicycle Uniforms ($2,300)
These funds will be used to purchase new bike uniforms for the twelve officers trained
for bike patrol. The uniforms are the Blauer 8130 "CoolMax" shirt and Blauer 8141
shorts. The uniform is contemporary, professional in appearance and has a large
"POLICE" patch sewn on the shirt's backside that better identifies the rider as a police
officer. The Blauer uniform is more functional for bike officers performing related tasks.
