THE CITY OF <br />'-_ <br />~L~~Sf~NTONo CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />February 6, 2007 <br />Public Works Department <br />TITLE: ACCEPT PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS PERFORMED BY VALLEY SLURRY <br />SEAL COMPANY FOR SLURRY SEALING OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS, <br />PROJECT NO. 055004 <br />SUMMARY <br />Construction of the subject project is complete and is ready for acceptance. The project <br />consisted of improving the roadway surface on various City streets by applying Type II <br />black volcanic aggregate slurry seal coating and the replacing of the existing traffic <br />striping and markers as part of an ongoing preventive maintenance program. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the meeting of <br />February 6, 2007: <br />1. Accept the improvements for this project. <br />2. Authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the subject project. <br />3. Authorize final payment to Valley Slurry Seal Company in the amount of $1,800. <br />4. Authorize payment of the retention in the amount of $12,944.93 to Valley Slurry <br />Seal Company thirty days after recordation of the Notice of Completion. <br />5. Authorize the City Manager to transfer the remaining balance of $15,550.66 from <br />the subject project, CIP No. 055004 (Annual Slurry Sealing) to CIP No. 065003 <br />(Annual Resurfacing of Various City Streets). <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />This project is part of the City's preventative maintenance efforts and is expected to <br />reduce long-term maintenance costs. <br />
